Clear aligners, prescribed by your dentist
Straighter teeth, clearly.
Nearly invisible, removable aligners that gently move your teeth into place. No metal brackets, no wires, and a virtual smile you can see before you start.
Hard to spot
Can you spot the aligners?
The same smile, photographed twice. Look closely, then check the answer.
Trick question: both are wearing aligners! In A the aligner isn't pushed fully into place, so you can just see its edge. In B it fits snugly and is almost invisible. A good fit makes all the difference, which is why every AC Aligners case is checked by our qualified UK technicians.
Why clear aligners
Fits around your life, not the other way round
Hard to spot
Thin, clear aligners that most people won't notice, at work or in photos.
Take them out
Remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss as normal. No foods to give up.
Comfortable
Smooth edges and no wires. A new set feels snug for a day or two, then settles.
Your virtual smile
A digital scan lets your dentist show you a preview of your new smile before you start.
What they can help with
Common reasons people choose aligners
Recognise your smile? Your dentist will check which of these apply to you and whether aligners are the right treatment.
Crowded teeth
Teeth that overlap or twist because there isn't enough room.
Gaps
Spaces between teeth, including a gap between the front two.
Deep bite
Top front teeth cover too much of the bottom ones.
Open bite
Front teeth don't meet when you bite together.
Crossbite or underbite
Some bottom teeth sit in front of, or outside, the top ones.
Protruding teeth
Top front teeth that stick out ahead of the bottom ones.

Assessment
Visit a participating dentist to check your teeth and gums are healthy and aligners are right for you.
Digital scan
A quick scan of your teeth replaces messy impression putty.
Your virtual smile
An orthodontic planning team maps out how your teeth will move, and your dentist talks it through with you.
Wear and change
Your aligners are usually ready a week or two after you give the go-ahead. Wear them about 22 hours a day, changing sets as your dentist directs.
Keep it
Retainers hold your new smile in place once treatment is finished.
More than straight
The right space for a perfect finish
Planning a veneer, crown or implant? Sometimes the gap is too small or the teeth around it have drifted. A short course of aligners can move teeth into the ideal position first, so your new tooth looks natural and less of your own tooth needs to be drilled away.
- Make room for an implant or crown of natural size
- Even out uneven gaps between front teeth
- Straighten crowded teeth before veneers, keeping more enamel
- Planned by your dentist and a specialist dental laboratory together

Questions
Good questions to ask
Am I suitable for clear aligners?
Many adults with crowded, gappy or slightly crooked teeth are. Your dentist will check your teeth and gums first and tell you honestly whether aligners are the right choice for you.
How long does treatment take?
It depends on how much your teeth need to move. Smaller corrections can take a matter of months; your dentist will give you a time estimate when you see your virtual smile.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel some pressure for a day or two when they start a new set. That's a sign the aligners are working, and it soon settles.
Can I eat and drink normally?
Yes. Take your aligners out to eat or drink anything other than water, brush your teeth, then put them back in.
How much does it cost?
Every smile is different, so your dentist will give you a personal quote after your assessment. Many practices offer ways to spread the cost.
